December 2012

Santa Baby

With the new year upon us, I’ve decided to begin a monthly post round-up. I read tons of great content and share the posts, but I know you don’t always catch what I’ve shared and get the opportunity to enjoy it as well.

A perfect start to January 2013 is to start something new and exciting and to thank those posts that really stood out and made an impression.

Stay tuned for a special series to be released soon (subscribers already got a sneak peek at it, so stay up to date and get some free goodies!)

Let’s kick it off!

Top Posts from December 2012

  • Steve Pavalina’s Post “Is it time for you to Stop Dabbling and Start Getting Serious“:
  • Thanks to Ryan Ferrier for sending over this post. I love the honesty but also the reality of it. We want our blog to be on top from Day 1, but it’s not realistic. You have to work hard at it and spend over a year doing it or else you are just “dabbling.” Stop dabbling, work hard, and it’ll come!

  • Alexis Grant’s post “Guest Blogging Opportunities:
  • Yes, it was written in November, but found it December. Alexis’ post exploded with opportunities and networking possibilities. How can you say no to that?!? Check it out.

  • Sean Ogle’s “How to Create a Killer List Offer:
  • As a growing blogger, fresh ideas on building growth are refreshing. Sean’s built a cult following and the advice he gives for list building are easy to implement and learn from.

  • Tom Ewer’s “7 Stories: Joys, Trials and Tribulations of My Journey to Date:
  • Tom’s honest assessments of his lifestyle journey builds trust with his readers and allows me to pause to reflect on my journey. As you see in the comments, I remark on “jealousy” as I see many young blogs grow at a more rapid rate than my own. But instead of pouting, figure out what they are doing better and implement! Bonus: Just finished Tom’s “Freelance Writing Guide.” Perfect start for a beginner as myself, get a copy!

  • Carol Tice’s “Answers to 100 Freelance Writing Questions — Including Yours:
  • Love Carol being open with her readers to help them out as much as possible. Definitely browse through the comments as there is TONS of free consulting going on, get on it!

  • Todd Mayfield’s “Leadership Lessons: The Dark Side of Leadership:
  • Love Fearless Men (as I’m a man, sorry ladies), but Todd tackles how leaders at times use their influence for worst. Having influence is a powerful weapon as you can sway opinions and lives, use it wisely.

  • Dave P.’s “Bucket List:”
  • Just found Dave’s site recently, and although married, I get a kick out of his “Barney Stinson-like” stories and persona. He just started his site in November, so go give him some love! Love he has a bucket list to keep him accountable.

  • Entrepreneur on Fire’s “Interview with Pamela Slim:”
  • Can never get enough of EOFire or Pamela Slim. She’s got such an awesome personality and great advice on finding your purpose. Worth the listen now!

  • Miranda’s “How do you view Your Money?
  • Always a fan of Jason’s work, but this guest post sucks me on because I love a post on mindset. Think about what money means to you and how do you view it. Many don’t think about that, just “I need more.” Why do you need more?…

  • Jaime Tardy’s “How Social Media Examiner’s Michael Stelzner Starts a New Business
  • Jaime does a bad-ass job at Eventual Millionaire, and Michael Stelzner is always a treat to listen to. One thing that really stood out was his “mapping” plan. What’s that? Go listen to Jaime’s show to find out!

  • Scott Dinsmore’s “How to Get Invited to Speak at TEDx (and get 40,147 views in 5 days):
  • This article was inspiring to me. Scott sets a long-term goal and finishes it far before his deadline. It inspired me to go right away and set out a 5 and 10 year goal. Maybe I can achieve all my goals much earlier than I set as he did :D.

  • Natalie Sisson’s “Top 24 Blog Lessons Learned In Two Years:
  • Congrats on Natalie’s growth and success in 2 years! What’s better than learning from the mistakes of others as well as learning what works! Saves time, effort and money…Bam!

  • David Siteman Garland’s “Seth Godin’s most revealing interview ever:
  • Seth Godin has such a unique way of thinking and being productive, it blows my mind. Listen to his take on not having a Twitter profile. It actually makes a lot of sense…Don’t miss David’s interview with Seth, it’s crazy good!

  • Pat Flynn’s “Tim Ferriss on Promotion from Scratch, Accelerated Learning, Experiments Gone Wrong, Publishing and More:
  • You can’t go wrong with Smart Passive Income, and Pat’s interview with Tim Ferriss was no disappointment. Learn how Tim started from scratch and his promotion strategies. Stuff that makes you say “Why didn’t I think of that?..”

  • Derek Halpern’s “What’s more persuasive? “I think…” or “I feel…”?
  • This is such a simple concept, but I noticed something. After viewing the video, I started to catch myself whenever I said “think” or “feel” and adjusted accordingly. That’s a sign of an influential, great post. Thanks Derek!

Did I miss any? What posts did you find in December that blew your mind? Let us know below!
